ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore mental health among minority students in Han middle schools and to analyze the difference of mental health between junior and senior high school students, with the aim of providing a reference for the relationship between cultural alienation and mental health of minority students in Han middle schools.@*Methods@#Participants were 1 679 minority students in two Han middle schools recruited from Datong county in Qinghai province, participants completed cultural alienation and mental health inventroy of middle school students.@*Results@#Prevalence of mental health problems illustrated a‘V’ shape curve for both junior and senior high school minority students in Han middle schools. Junior school students scored lower than senior high school students on obsessive, learning anxiety, learning pressure, maladjustment and emotional imbalance(t=-2.88, -5.17, -2.82, -1.99, -2.60, P<0.05). The detection rate of moderate and mild mental health problems (44.5%, 12.5%) between middle school students of Han nationality and minority nationality (50.3%, 6.9%)(χ2=13.22,P<0.01). The middle school students of minority nationality showed more hostile, interpersonal tension and sensitivity, depressed, maladjustment, psychological imbalance, and lesser obsessive(t=2.86, 1.97, 2.04, 5.11, 5.75, -13.17, P<0.05). After controlling for grade, gender and nationality, cultural isolation(β=0.22, t=5.12), cultural separateness(β=0.19, t=4.54) and discordant sense(β=0.08, t=2.39) was positively associated with mental health,the sense of control(β=-0.09, t=-2.02) was negative associated with mental health(P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Mental health of middle school students of ethnic minorities in Han area is at a satisfactory level, The junior school students in Han middle schools had higher level of mental health, Cultural alienation is an important factor in keeping mental health.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the curative effect and clinical safety of gimeracil and oteracil potassium combined with oxaliplatin in treatment of advanced gastric carcinoma patients.Methods From January 2009 to December 2011,116 cases with advanced gastric carcinoma were randomly chosen and divided into group A,B (58 cases in each group).Group A was given gimeracil and oteracil potassium combined with oxaliplatin,while group B was given oxaliplatin,fluorouracil and calcium folinate.Before and after dosing,the blood routine,liver and kidney function,chest CT scanning and gastroscope inspection were observed,the recent curative effect and adverse reaction of chemotherapy were analyzed.The patients' survival time and disease progression were compared.Results The curative effect of 116 patients could all be evaluated,and the effective rate of group A and group B were 48.3%(28/58) and 29.3%(17/58),while clinical benefit rate were 74.1%(43/58) and 55.2%(32/58),there was significant difference(P < 0.05).The survival rate of two groups at different time points had no significant difference (P >0.05).The rate of nauseated and vomiting were 34.5%(20/58),37.9%(22/58) in group A,and 67.2%(39/58),62.1%(36/58) in group B,there was significant difference (P < 0.05).The influence of drugs on blood system,common peripheral neurotoxicity,extremities syndrome and inflammation of the oral mucosa between two groups had no significant difference (P >0.05).Conclusions Gimeracil and oteracil potassium combined with oxaliplatin in treatment of advanced gastric carcinoma patients has better clinical effect and less complication,which is worthy of further promotion.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the constituents of the stem of Rabdosia excisa.</p><p><b>METHOD</b>Compounds were separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography and their structures were determined by spectroscopic method.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Thirteen compounds isolated from this plant were identified as rabdesimte( 1 ), maoyecrystal E (2), 6beta,11alpha,15alpha-trihydroxy-6,7-seco-6,20-epoxy-1alpha, 7-ol-ide-ent-kaur-16-en (3), enmenol-glucoside (4), oridonol (5), macrocalyxin G (6), rabdosichuanin C (7), beta-sitosterol (8), ursolic acid (9), 2alpha-hydroxyursolic acid (10), maslinic acid ( 11 ), 2alpha,3alpha,19-trihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oicacid (12), and daucosterol (13).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Except for compounds 5, 8, 9 and 13, the remaining compounds were found in R. excisa for the first time.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between expression of REG Iα gene and its clinicopathologic parameters, the survival rate in the patients with primary gastric cancer. Methods Using RT-PCR after extracting RNA from paraffin-embedded materials and immunohistochemical techniques, REG Iα gene expression was investigated in 235 samples. And the relation among their results with the clinicopathologic parameters of primary gastric carcinoma was discussed in experiment by SPSS 13.0 statistic software. Results The positive REG Iα mRNA was 78% (183/235) of primary gastric carcinoma and the positive rate of REG Iα protein was 31.1% (73/235) in 235 patients with primary gastric carcinoma. REG Iα gene expression in infiltrating tumors was found to be significantly higher compared with localized tumors ( P <0.05). REG Iα gene was closely linked to the infiltrative growth pattern, signet ring cell and poorly differentitated adencarcinoma. The incidence of venous invasion of REG Iα gene-positive differentiated adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than that of REG Iα gene-negative tumors. Moreover, the patients with REG Iα gene-positive differentiated adenocarcinoma were found to have a significantly poorer prognosis as compared with REG Iα gene-negative tumor patients. Conclusions The results of the experiment demonstrated that the expression of the REG Iα gene is closely related to the infiltrating property of primary gastric carcinoma. Signet ring cells and poorly differentiated adencarcinoma significantly enhance the risk of venous invasion of REG Iα gene-positive differentiated adenocarcinoma and might be as a prognostic indicator of differentiated adenocarcinoma of the stomach in clinic diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective We compare the effects of fibrinogen gel and chitin on BMSCs to chondrocytes differentiation in order to explore the relationship between three-dimensional scaffold and cartilage tissue engineering seed cells BMSCs differentiation. Methods BMSCs together with chitin and fibrin gel complexes were cultured in vitro and implanted into rat's articular cartilage defect location. After 14 days in vitro culture, HE staining, toluidine blue staining and type II collagen immunohistochemical staining were performed;After transplantation in vivo, for 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks, morphology observations, expression of cartilage-specific protein analysis and BMSCs in vivo tracer method were performed. We analyzed the differentiation of BMSCs into chondrocytes by statistical methods. Results The comparison of positive cell rate of type II collagen immunohistochemical staining in BMSCs-fibrin gel group and BMSCs-chitin group which were cultured in vitro, showed no significant difference with control group. Integrated absorbance(IA) change rate of toluidine blue staining and type II collagen immunohistochemical staining in BMSCs-fibrin gel group which was cultured in vivo, showed significantly different with other groups and control group.Conclusion The results showed that in vitro fibrin gel or chitin has very weak induction of BMSCs to cartilage differentiation, while in vivo BMSCs-fibrin gel can facilitrate BMSCs to differentiate into chondrocyte-like cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of hypoxia on the syntheses and secretion of adrenomedullin (AM), calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) and c-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) and the relationship between these peptides. Methods Rat models were established with hypoxia for 10, 20 and 30 d respectively and rats under normal altitude were served as control. Pulmonary artery pressure and the maximum increasing speed of right ventricle (RVdp/dtmax) were measured in every group. The dynamic changes of AM, CGRP and CNP concentrations in plasma were studied with radioimmunoassay. Results During hypoxia, pulmonary artery pressure and RVdp/dtmax were enhanced. Plasma AM and CNP concentrations were increased while CGRP was decreased significantly. The plasma level of AM had positive correlation with that of CNP, but negatively correlated with that of CGRP. Conclusion Results indicate that hypoxia may cause pulmonary artery pressure change and right ventricle has compensatory reaction to hypoxic pulmonary hypertension. Dynamic changes of plasma AM, CGRP and CNP concentrations can be regarded as indexes for condition of illness.

ObjectiveTo study the expression of transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-?1),platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1,CD31) in prostate cancer tissues and their correlation with prostate specific antigen (PSA) values and TNM staging.MethodsUsing immunohistochemical method 36 prostate cancer specimens were tested for TGF-?1 expression, and using CD31 for marking vascular endothelial cells,the tumor microvascular density (MVD) was counted. Twelve normal tissue specimens were taken from the non-tumorous tissues adjacent to the prostate cancer as controls. The correlation of TGF-?1 expression and MVD with PSA values,TNM staging,pathologic grading and bone metastasis was analyzed in combination with the clinical data.ResultsThe positive expression rate of TGF-?1 in prostate cancer was 88.89%(32/36),while it was 16.67%(2/12)in controls, showing statistically significant difference between them ( P 20 ng/ml, MVD was (81.5?12.2) mm 2 ( P 20 ng/ml,23 cases had the TGF-?1 expression rate of 100% ( P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To examine the MSI and LOH of locus D17S396 and their influence on the expression of nm23-H1 in gallbladder tumors, and to examine the protein expression of hMLH1/hMSH2, which may provide experimental evidence for the tumor occurrence and metastasis. METHODS: Techniques such as DNA extraction, CR-SSCP, ordinary silver stain were used to study MSI and LOH of locus D17S396. Envision IHC was used to assess the expression of nm23-H1 and hMLH1/hMSH2.RESULTS: ① The frequency of heredity instability of gallbladder carcinoma was 42.55%. The frequency of LOH in liver and lymph node metastasis cases and in stage Nevin IV and V was significantly higher than that without metastasis and stage I, II and III. However, the frequency of MSI showed contrary correlation with some clinicopathologic characteristics. ② The expression of nm23-H1 was 46.81%. The case with lymph node metastasis and Nevin stage IV and V showed significantly lower expression than that without lymph node metastasis and stage I, II and III. ③ The expressions of hMLH1 and hMSH2 were 51.06% and 42.55% respectively. hMLH1 in lymph node and liver metastasis cases and in stage Nevin IV and V were significantly lower than that without metastasis and in stage I, II and III. ④ Positive frequency of hMLH1 in MSI positive group was higher than that in MSI negative group. The positive frequency of nm23-H1 and hMSH2 protein in LOH positive group was lower than that in negative group.CONCLUSION: The heredity instability of nm23-H1 gene may be implicated pathogenesis and progression of gallbladder carcinoma. Both MSI and LOH of nm23-H1 control the development of gallbladder carcinoma independently in different paths. Abnormal expression of hMLH1/hMSH2 may be a molecule marker in early stage of gallbladder carcinoma.

AIM: To further study the effect of Ershen Zeshu Mixture, a Chinese medicine, on the peritoneal lymphatic stomata and the ascites drainage in experimental mice model of CCl 4-induced fibrosis.By the application of NO supplier (sodium nitroprusside,SNP) and NO suppressor (N G-mononethyl-L-arginine,L-NMMA),the effect of NO on the peritoneal lymphatic stomata and the ascites drainage was studied to clarify the relationship between Ershen Zeshu Mixture and NO in the regulation of the peritoneal lymphatic stomata.METHODS: The mouse model of fibrosis was established with the application of intragastric installations of carbon tetrachloride one time every three days;Scanning electron microscope and computer image processing were used to detect the girth,area and distribution density of the peritoneal lymphatic stomata;the concentration of urinary ions was measured in the experiment.RESULTS: ①Compared to NS group and model group,Ershen Zeshu Mixture could significantly increase the girth and the area of the peritoneal lymphatic stomata,promote its distribution density ( P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To examine the 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase activity and the peritoneal pathological changes when using commercially dialysates in order to reveal effects of the peritoneal dialysate biocompatibility on the immune function and morphological changes. METHODS: (1) CAPD animal models were made using dialysates. (2) Dynamic measurements of 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase activity were made by paper chromatography. (3)The pathological changes of the peritoneal mesothelial cells were examined by light microscope. RESULTS: 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase activities in both experimental (dialysis solution groups) and control group were increased and the mesothelial cell began to exfoliate and become thicker with the infiltration of inflammatory cells at different degrees in the experimental groups, while in the Baxter group, no active inflammation was observed. When the peritoneal dialysis stopped, activity of 2′,5′-oligoadenylate synthetase began to be normal in control group and continued to decline in experimental groups.CONCLUSION: Prolonged immune suppression existed with long-term peritoneal dialysis, causing pathological changes of the peritoneum at certain degrees. Different dialysis solutions resulted in different degrees of immuno-supression and peritoneal damages, which was relevant to the biological compatibility of the peritoneal dialysate.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) and CD31 in relation to metastasis in ovarian epithelial tumors. METHODS: VEGFR-3 and CD31 expression were examined by immunohistochemical methods, VEGFR-3 positive microlymphatic count (MLC) and microvessel density (MVD) were assessed by the image analysis. RESULTS: Both MLC and MVD in ovarian epithelial carcinomas were higher than those in benign tumors(MLC, P 0 05). CONCLUSIONS: VEGFR-3 and CD31 expression correlate significantly with metastasis, MLC and MVD might predict peritumoral lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis, which may be as a biologic marker for metastasis in ovarian epithelial tumors. ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the regulatory effect of nitric oxide on the lymphatic stomata and probe into the mechanism of ultrafiltration failure during long-term peritoneal dialysis (PD). METHODS: ①Sodium nitroprusside(SNP) and N G-monomethyl-L-arginine(L-NMMA) (inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase(NOS)) were injected into the peritoneal cavity of the mouse model of PD. ②NO concentration was measured in serum. ③The lymphatic stomata was studied with SEM and computer image processing.RESULTS: During PD, a lot of macrophages wandered out of the lymphatic stomata to form milky spots on the peritoneal mesothelium, and the diameter and density of the stomata were increased with NO concentration raised. After PD cessation, the stomata was normal gradually and numbers of milky spots reduced with NO concentration fall. The diameter and density of the stomata were increased with a rise in NO concentration as SNP was used, oppositely those were decreased with the increase in NO concentration as L-NMMA was injected intraperitoneally. CONCLUSIONS: The lymphatic stomata might be regulated through increasing the endogenous NO concentration. During PD, NO is increased gradually and the ultrafiltration failure would occur when re-absorption of the stomata was increased from the peritoneal cavity.

Objective To study the chemical components in Rabdosia excisoides.Methods The isolation and purification were carried out on silica gel column chromatography,the chemical structures were determind by physico-chemical properties and spectral analysis.Results Two compounds were isolated from R.excisoides and their structures were identified,one was named as excisoidesin A(Ⅰ),a new diterpenoid and the other was a known compound,oleanolic acid(Ⅱ).Conclusion Excisoidesin A is a new diterpenoid.

ABSTRACT

In fifteen human fetuses spcimens the peritoneal stomata were studied with SEM and TEM, and measured by image processing system. In order to prove that the peritoneal stomata are the passageway of absorbed matter from the peritoneal cavity, animal experiments were made. There are two types of the mesothelial cells on diaphragmatic peritoneum, i. e. the cuboidal cells and the flattened cells. The peritoneal stomata, which arranged in clusters or strips, were only found between the cuboidal cells. The shape and size of the stomata were often irregular. The average area of the stoma on the muscular portion is 10.43?1.61?m~2, while on the tendinous portion is 7.93?1.67?m~2. The connective tissue underlies below the stomata, under which no basement membrane was found. Many lymphatic capillaries were observed in the connective tissue, which may promote absorption of matter from the peritoneal cavity. In animal experiments, some particles of trypan blue were absorbed through the stomata of rabbit diaphragmatic peritoneum. The authors consider that the stomata, are first observed in human, are important pathway for draining matter from the peritoneal cavity.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of steroid hormones on lymphatic stomata of ovarian bursa and fluid adsorption. Methods The lymphatic adsorption was traced by trypan blue,and the ultrastructure of the lymphatic stomata and estrogen receptor level of mesothelial cells on ovarian bursa was observed by scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and immuno-colloid golden technology. Results The absorption and opening area of lymphatic stomata were enhanced in estrogen group mice,and decreased in androgen group as compared to control group mice.Estrogen receptor was first identified in the nuclei of mesothelial cells on the inner layer of mice ovarian bursa and the level was down-regulated by estrogen and slightly up-regulated by androgen.Conclusion The absorption and the opening area of lymphatic stomata can be regulated by steroid hormones in mice,and the machanism may be related to the expression levels of estrogen receptor in the nuclei of mesothelial cells.
